Blue
ADOPTED!

Blue has found his "heaven on earth".  Blue was adopted by Raisin' Colts and Fillies Ranch in late May 2009.  Blue has cautiously but happily fitted himself into a existing herd and was accepted within days of arriving on the 15 acre ranch.  Blue's "spooks and boogies" are quickly going away evident of him bravely leading the way on several trail rides on the beautiful hilly trails of Brushy Creek Guest Ranch.  Blue and his new owners couldn't be happier!  Thanks HARP for all you do.

Satin

ADOPTED ! ! !

"Satin" is a small (14:2 hand) 13-year-old black roan TWH mare.  Her previous owners have cruelty charges filed against them.

Satin has been under saddle for several months and is responding well to steady work in the ring.  Her hooves can now be easily handled by people she knows and trusts.  She has a lot of reach and really covers ground at a loose, swingy and very smooth running walk.  She responds well with her "foster mom" in the saddle, and is generally more at ease around women, once she gets to know someone.  She still can become very panicky with strangers, especially strange men.  Adoption to foster home is pending.

Jonni
The Little Old Arab That Could
This little Arabian was nearly 30 when she was abandoned at a boarding stable.  Skin and bones, she was taken in by HARP.
Still going strong in her adoptive home years later, Jonni survived the devastating flooding of Hurricane Katrina without injury and is such a perfect lady, she was used to demonstrate our rescue sling.

goldiekids2.jpg
GOLDIE
Rescued "Ambassador"
One of the first two horse HARP rescued, Goldie was abandoned in a huge pasture full of grass she couldn't eat because of the poor condition of her teeth.  She went on to a new life with a family full of children.  A neighborhood favorite, Goldie served as a humane education "ambassador" with children's clubs.
troy.jpg
TROY
Neither Hell Nor High Water
Troy came to HARP malnourished and with an untreated thyroid condition.  A lucky boy, he was adopted by a wonderful gentleman who lived near New Orleans.  When Hurricane Katrina struck, Troy's owner couldn't reach the stable.  HARP was able to get hay and water to the horse while his owner arranged for transport. Although people were being kept out of the flooded and devastated area, nothing was going to keep Troy's owner from evacuating his beloved horse.  He borrowed a trailer and against considerable odds, evacuated the bay Thoroughbred to a beautiful new home in Texas.

Dream
A Dream Come True
Dream's previous owner didn't care that she was too sick to fight his many other horses for sporadic feed.  Once in HARP's care, Dream's infection cleared with antibiotics.  The 8-year-old Tennessee Walking Horse mare was a jewel on the ground and under saddle, all she needed was someone to cherish her.

Here she is with two of her favorite things -- her adopter and a mouthful of hay.

sarah.jpg

Sarah
Sarah Joins the Girl Scouts
Sarah was a "throwaway" horse -- old, unloved and underfed -- when she came to HARP.  In the hands of a caring foster home, Sarah slowly turned into a beautiful paint mare with a new life at a nearby Girl Scout Camp.

Unfortunately, a computer virus corrupted the webmaster's computer and exterior storage and we lost many treasured photographs of adopted animals.

If you've adopted one of our animals and don't see a photo here, it's probably because we no longer have one.

We'd love to have photos of you with your HARP adoptee.  Photographs can be snail-mailed to us and we'll scan them in and put them on this site.  Send to:
